Missions & Outreach

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.

Matthew 28:19

Our heart at CLife is simple: Bringing People to God & Bringing People Together! Although we are planted here in the New River Valley in Southwest Virginia, we serve a BIG God of a BIG world, and our desire to bring people to God and bring people together extends outside of just our immediate area! CLife is currently partnered with several different ministries locally and globally, and we invite YOU to partner with us to go BEYOND in our community and our world!

Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua

Since the beginning, CLife has been partnering with brothers and sisters in Nicaragua through the work of Renew the Hope Ministries. Our good friend, Pastor Earl Bowie, has been serving for many years as the lead pastor of Verbo Church in Puerto Cabezas. Pastor Earl founded Casa Bernabe, a child protection and development center that houses 140 children and youth who would otherwise be living in deeply impoverished and dangerous situations. They come through a variety of paths: some have been orphaned; some were displaced by families who could no longer feed them; others come for a quality education.

Pastor Earl has also started Verbo Christian School, multiple feeding centers, as well as planted 16 churches in the village of Betania and in the Rio Coco region.

You can be involved in the work in Nicaragua through financial support, prayer, sponsorship, and short-term mission trips to Nicaragua.

Love the NRV Day

The Saturday before Easter, CLife spreads out through the community to do community service projects and simply to love people. Our goal is to go beyond the walls of the church to bless others.  Here are some of the many projects we’ve completed during Love the NRV Day over the years:

--Joined Town of Christiansburg Annual Easter Egg Hunt by passing out popcorn, balloons, candy, drinks, and hosting a craft table for children.
--Sent teams throughout Radford, Pulaski County, Christiansburg, and Montgomery County with fresh baked goodies for first responders and other community servants.
--Participated with the Town of Christiansburg in the Crab Creek Cleanup.
--Passed out free Easter dresses along with popcorn, drinks, and candy at the Radford Library.
--Passed out drinks and snacks on the Huckleberry trail.
--Painted the offices at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore.
--Washed the buses used for the Radford Head Start Program.
--Hosted neighborhood Easter Egg hunts for the community.

And a lot more! You can participate by setting aside a few hours on the Saturday before Easter and signing up for Love the NRV Day!

Serve September

At CLife, we specifically set aside the month of September to go ALL-OUT and serve our community! We have multiple projects each week, and there is a place for everyone to serve!

Some examples of projects over the years:
--Sending teams to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s construction projects.
--Hosting a free cookout and passing out food, snacks and drinks to the students at Radford University.
--Running Concession Stand at Radford Football Game.
--Assembling and delivering “Jars of Love”, prepared Mason jars with the ingredients for soup, cake, or other goodies to our kid’s teachers and other community servants.
--Preparing and delivering “Teacher Survival Kits” to teachers in schools all over the NRV.
--Preparing and serving the pre-game dinner for the Radford Bobcat Football Team, Radford Bobcat Marching Band, and Radford Bobcat Cheerleaders.
--Cleaning up trash in the neighborhoods around Riverlawn Elementary School.
--Thank-You-Palooza: sending hundreds of thank-you cards to community servants throughout the month.
--Assisting with Bobcat Backpacks.
--Game days at Melinda's Melody Senior Center.

And, much more! You can participate by setting aside time to join a project each September!

Melinda's Melody

Melinda’s Melody is a low-income subsidized senior housing community for seniors 62 or older tucked in a neighborhood in Christiansburg, Virginia. There are 48 apartment units, with the majority housing a single senior. Many of these residents love having visitors and are very open to relationships!

There are several ways to be involved in reaching out to these lovely seniors at Melinda's Melody:
--Adopt-A-Grandparent... the sky's the limit! You can send birthday and holiday cards, stop by for a front-porch visit, help them run errands, or bring your kids over for a visit!
--Join the weekly meal deliver team. We deliver a hot meal to each senior every Thursday afternoon.
--Help with a carpool for any seniors that would like to come to church on Sunday.
--Help with special events and monthly outreaches.

Community Outreach

We are always looking for more opportunities to serve our community! If you have an idea or a way we can partner to love our valley, please let us know!

Look for various ways to serve our community throughout the year, such as:
--Teacher appreciation gifts
--Providing camp scholarships
--Bobcat Backpacks--donating food or helping pack food bags
--Outreaches at Radford University
--Feeding our Youth and College Students during their Community Groups
--And more!

Hispanic Outreach

We have a special place in our heart for the Spanish-speaking community of our valley! We are currently offering monthly social events to build community among this group! We are also offering a weekly Community Group on Sunday evenings in Spanish. If you'd like more information or would like to be involved, please contact Paola Lara, paola@clife.church.
